Does Acupuncture Hurt?

When most people think of acupuncture they think of needles, and when most people think of needles they think of pain.  This is one of the largest misconceptions about acupuncture.  An acupuncture needle is the thickness of about 3 pieces of hair and is a solid.  It is not like a giving blood or getting a shot at the doctor's office.  Those situations are done with a hollow needle that is either taking something out or putting something into your body.  Acupuncture is completely the opposite.  The needle is gently placed into the body and is hardly felt at all.

There are different types of acupuncture: Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc...  At ELEMENT Acupuncture we practice the Japanese style of acupuncture.  The Japanese believe that you shouldn't experience a lot of pain.  Our needles tend to be smaller and less painful.  We use the highest quality disposable needle in existence.  The needles are never reused and are disposed of after one insertion so you also never need to worry about infection or a dirty clinic.

We take acupuncture seriously and never want you to be uncomfortable during a treatment.  We always make sure you are comfortable with the needles and that you aren't experiencing any pain.  I have worked with many patients who are still very nervous about needles and by helping them to relax and breathe during the treatment they are shocked about how painless the treatments are.

If you still have questions about acupuncture and would like William to answer those questions give him a call at 617-922-1881.   His acupuncture clinic is located in the back bay of Boston.
