The Earth Element

In Oriental medicine there are Five Elements and each of those elements are associated with a season. Below is a little information about the Earth Element.

Element: Earth

Season: Late Summer (late July until early September)

Color: Yellow

Taste: Sweet

Emotion: Thoughtful, Sympathy

Sound: Sing

Out of Balance: Digestive Disorders, Obsessive Thinking or Worry, Edema, Obesity, Nightmares

The earth element is the foundation of all of the other elements. Think of mother earth, she supports us all and provides the nourishment and other things that we need to survive. This is the time of year when the harvest is at its peak- fruits and vegetables taste amazing. The earth element is also all about taking care of other people and making sure their needs are met. Some people like to be taken care of, some do not. All of these aspects correspond to the earth element.
