The Water Element

In Oriental medicine there are Five Elements and each of those elements are associated with a season.  Below is a little information about the Water Element.

  • Element:  Water

  • Season:  Winter (mid November until beginning of February)

  • Color:  Blue or Black

  • Taste:  Salty

  • Emotion:  Fear/ Lack of Fear

  • Sound:  Groan

  • Out of Balance:  Hoarding, Anxiety, Being a Dare-Devil, Arthritis, Knee pain, Back Pain, Poor Memory, Unable to Conserve Your Resources, Premature Gray Hair, or Hair Falling Out

The water element has an element of fear to it.  It can be unnecessary or inappropriate fear, or having a lack of fear.   There is also an aspect of not conserving your resources- burning the candle at both ends.  This leads to having a lack of energy and causing the body to age a little more rapidly.  Meditation and building Yin in your life is important for these types of people.  To learn more about the Oriental medicine call William at 617-922-1881.  His Boston acupuncture clinic is located in the back bay and serves the south end, beacon hill, and the city of Cambridge.
