Acupuncture for PTSD

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a general diagnosis for many people who have dealt with a very traumatic event in their life.  Depending on the severity of the shock, it can last days, weeks or even years.  I have treated many women who have been raped and or kidnapped and have seen them flourish as they have progressed through acupuncture treatment.  I have worked with people who have been sexually, physically, or mentally abused with very effective results.  I have also had many patients who have had to deal with a death in their lives.  Death and dying can be a very hard time for people and with the right support the grieving process can be healthy.  Grief is not a bad emotion, it is healthy.  It is only when we deny ourselves the grieving process that disease or dis-ease will show up.

Many people find that there is something wrong with them when they come in for acupuncture treatments for PTSD.  I always remind them that there is nothing wrong, and that nothing needs to be fixed.  It is where you are at this time in your life and from this you can grow and become an even more empowered human being.  Life is precious, acupuncture can help you to live it to the fullest.

Sometimes emotions get stuck in us.  It can be in the muscles, or in our energy.  Through body work, acupuncture, meditation and mental health therapy you can overcome these stuck emotions.  I find that patients who embrace a wide range of healing options tend to heal from the past trauma fully.  I don't think any one modality is better than the other.  As long as you are doing something to help you to move on through your Tao, you will heal.

During your acupuncture treatment at Element Acupuncture in Boston we will sit down and discuss all these options with you.  We take the time to make sure we know all about your concerns and we come up with a treatment plan that is realistic and effective.  To treat on this type of level for most patients requires several treatments.  Plan on at least weekly treatments for about two months and maybe more depending on your situation.

Call William Wessel now at 617-922-1881 to discuss your health concerns and to see how acupuncture can help you to move past your traumatic experience.  Our office is located in the back bay neighborhood of Boston and is easily accessible from the South End, Fenway, Beacon Hill or Cambridge.  We are never too busy to talk to you and want you to feel better.  We know what it is like to live with these conditions.
