Acupuncture for Stress and Excess Worry

Who doesn't have stress these days?!  We are all completely wired in with our smart phones, Internet, emails, commute, diet, health, exercise, the stock market...  the list goes on.  We might suffer more from worry now since we stress out over all these other issues. Both of these conditions, stress and worry can have very negative effects on our health and well-being.  They can lead to insomnia, depression, infertility, fatigue, headaches, as well as many other conditions.  The trick is to deal with the stress and everything else will just fall into place with the greatest ease.  There's a term for this in Chinese called Wu Wei.  When we are on our correct path our lives will just fall into place without any effort.  That is the joy of Wu Wei.  Now, to get there.

  • Acupuncture- as you should know by now, acupuncture is great at treating anxiety and depression, so you guessed it, it works great for stress also.  It helps the body to relax and to not let the little things bother you as much.  Whenever I'm feeling a little more stressed I give myself some acupuncture (one of the joys of being an acupuncturist!).  I have treated hundreds of patients who suffer from stress.  Trust me, it works.
  • Meditation- we all hear about how meditation changes the brain waves and how people who meditate have less stress.  So what's keeping you from doing it?  Not enough time?  It only takes a few minutes a day to meditate.  Anything is better than nothing.
  • Yoga- another great way to fight stress.  By controlling your breathing and stretching the body you have greater clarity and thus less stress.  It helps to slow you down and to feel less stress.  As you try yoga you should notice that you have more energy and less things will seem to bother you.
  • Diet and Exercise-  Exercise helps to blow off some of that extra steam that can cause us to feel stressed out and to get frustrated.  By exercising and eating the right types of foods you'll notice that you feel better, healthier and things won't bother you as much.  Your mind will feel clearer and less bothered by stressful situations.

During your acupuncture treatment at Element Acupuncture in Boston we will sit down and discuss all these options with you.  We take the time to make sure we know all about your concerns and we come up with a treatment plan that is realistic and effective.

Call William Wessel now at 617-922-1881 to discuss your health concerns and to see how acupuncture can help your insomnia issues.  Our office is located in the back bay neighborhood of Boston and is easily accessible from the South End, Fenway, Beacon Hill or Cambridge.  We are never too busy to talk to you and want you to feel better.  We know what it is like to live with these conditions.
